A PhD position is offered in atmospheric density modelling using real-time satellite laser ranging data. Together with industrial partner Lumi Space, we will develop a responsive representation of a density model which then gets updated continuously using real-time satellite laser ranging data to obtain an up-to-date representation that can be used to improve subsequent satellite tracking accuracy significantly.
The position comes fully funded for students from Horizon Europe countries (which includes all EU countries, Canada, NZ) with a standard PhD stipend (currently ~£1700 tax free, increasing each year) plus a ~£100 monthly uplift from our industrial partner as well as a £5000 research and training grant for consumables and conference travel.»
