Course Description


Construction alloys of Fe and Ni matrices. Martensitic transformation. Impact of impurities on metallic matrices. Stainless steels. Shape memory alloys. Strain hardening. Isothermal and continuous cooling transformation (TTT-CCT) diagrams. Engineering, marine, and general-purpose alloys of Cu matrix. Light metal alloys of Al and Ti matrices for construction, ornamental, aeronautics, and biomedical applications. Strengthening mechanisms at the nanoscale – superalloys. Oxide-dispersion-strengthened superalloys. The Orowan mechanism. Metallic glasses. Metallic foams. Nanomaterials of metallic matrices (nanoparticles, nanowires). Applications.
